Find a comfortable position, either lying down or sitting with your back supported... Let your eyes gently close... Notice the natural rhythm of your breath... just as it is... in... and out... No need to change anything... simply becoming aware of the tide of your own being... Now, gently begin to deepen the breath... a slow, steady inhale through the nose... and a longer, releasing exhale through the mouth... letting go... and a soft pause at the end... Inhale slowly... exhale longer... release... and pause... Allow the week's beginning to settle here, in this space between breaths... Bring your hands to rest gently on your belly... Feel the abdomen rise on your next inhale... expanding like a soft balloon... and fall on the exhale... softening and releasing... Breathing into this center of calm... Now, let the breath flow upward into your chest... Feel the ribs expand gently to the sides on the inhale... and soften back toward the spine on the exhale... Releasing any tightness held around the heart... Bring your awareness to your shoulders and neck... areas that often carry the weight of a new week's plans... On your next exhale, consciously let them soften... let them drop away from your ears... Imagine the tension dissolving like sand through your fingers... From this point of release, invite a wave of softening to travel slowly down through your body... softening the arms and hands... the back and spine... the hips and legs... all the way down to the soles of the feet... Letting the entire body feel heavy, supported, and at ease... In this deep stillness, rest... Your body is soft, your breath is calm... There is nothing to solve, nowhere to be. "In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety."... Gently begin to bring your awareness back to the room... the sounds, the surfaces supporting you... When you are ready, slowly blink your eyes open... carrying this sense of peace with you into your rest.
