Find a comfortable position, lying down or sitting back... Let your eyes gently close... Allow the day to settle around you... This is the Lord's Day... a day of rest, a day of ceasing... Let go of any need to do... and simply be here... with your breath... Notice the natural rhythm of your breathing... in... and out... No need to change it... just observe the gentle tide... Now, begin to deepen the breath... A slow, easy inhale through the nose... and a longer, releasing exhale through the mouth... Let the exhale carry away the day's dust... Inhale slowly... exhale longer... and pause... in the quiet space between breaths... Place a hand gently on your belly... Breathe into your hand, feeling your abdomen rise... and fall... Let your belly be soft... receptive... like the quiet of a Sabbath evening... Now, let the breath fill your chest... Feel your ribcage expand with light... and soften as you release... Shoulders, let them drop away from your ears... Neck, release any tightness... as if laying down a heavy burden... From the crown of your head... feel a wave of softening... moving down through your face... your jaw... your throat... Down through your shoulders and arms... your chest and back... softening through your belly and hips... Letting go all the way down through your legs... and out through the soles of your feet... A full release... into the support beneath you... In this stillness, remember the promise of this day... *"There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God."*... This rest is your inheritance now... a deep peace that holds you... Your body is heavy... your mind is quiet... resting in the completion of the week... Whenever you are ready, you may gently begin to wiggle your fingers and toes... and transition peacefully into your night's rest...
